2006 Tinker’s Creek Watershed Day

Preserving and protecting one of Northeast Ohio’s great watersheds will be the focus of the first Tinker’s Creek Watershed Day on Saturday, July 22, 2006, in Twinsburg (Summit County).

Ohio EPA is partnering with local governments and environmental organizations to increase public awareness of water quality concerns in the 30-mile-long creek and surrounding basin.

Tinker’s Creek Watershed Day activities will take place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Twinsburg’s wastewater treatment plant located at 10231 Ravenna Road.
Residents of all ages are invited to participate in a variety of events including a stream stabilization project, water quality testing, electro-fishing demonstration, wastewater treatment plant tour and more.

Tinker’s Creek drains nearly 100 square miles of land in Portage, Geauga, Summit and Cuyahoga counties. It is the largest tributary to the Cuyahoga River, contributing one-third of its flow. Suburban development, wetlands losses and pollution discharges continue to challenge the watershed’s health.
