The Tinkers Creek Watershed is experiencing rapid growth and urbanization. The adaptability of the creek to support these changes and still function as a biological habitat and recreational resource is being tested. It is the responsibility of the communities that use and depend on this resource to initiate the appropriate measures to ensure long term fitness of Tinkers Creek. Several studies have been completed on the Tinkers Creek Watershed. A TMDL study of the lower Cuyahoga River has indicated that the Tinkers Creek Watershed is virtually in non-compliance with EPA Warm Water Habitat requirements for stream sustainability. A Tinkers Creek Conservation Plan was undertaken by Kerr-Boron that has created a snapshot of watershed-wide related information, and will help increase understanding of the stresses that Tinkers Creek faces. An EPA Stressor Study (the first of its kind) is set to begin in the spring of 2006.
